- Madrid International Contemporary Art Fair (ARCO)

- What? Modern and contemporary art fair featuring works from around the globe. Both galleries and individual artists participate, highlighting the emerging trends of painting, graphics, video, new media, sculpture, installation, etc. This year's guest country is India; special exhibitions and discussions are organized to explore India's art scene.

- What? Madrid's annual theater festival for children, featuring more than 30 performances by both both national and international theater companies.

- Where? Throughout the city.
- What? Costume competitions, parties throughout the city and numerous other activities. The festival culminates with the Burial of the Sardine, an elaborate, burlesque-style ritual consisting of a procession and subsequent funeral for a sardine. The ritual evolved from the religious tradition of burying pig fat to mark the commencement of Lent.

- What? An exhibition of 38 photographs - both portraits and landsapes - by French photographer Pierre Gonnard. The photographs depict rural life in the most isolated parts of Northern Spain and Portugal.
