Caja Madrid Gospel Festival December La Casa Encedida and Teatro Fernán Gómez The annual Caja Madrid Gospel Festival lets you experience the best of gospel choirs from both Madrid and the US at Christmas.	Madrid Christmas Market December Plaza Mayor, Madrid The Plaza Mayor square is packed with around 100 stalls and tend to sell typical products for a traditional, Spanish-style Christmas. This market has been going since 1860 and is now a part of true Christmas tradition in the city.	Madrid Christmas Craft Market December Plaza de España, Madrid A Christmas market with a difference. Over 200 stalls sell authentic and unusual handicrafts which make great Christmas presents.

Arquitecturas pintadas Painted Architecture 18 October - 22 January Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Paseo del Prado, 8, Madrid The central theme of this exposition is the landscape works between the 14th and 18th centuries.	Aleksandr Deineka: Una vanguardia para el proletariado Aleksandr Deineka: A Vanguard for the Proletariat 7 October - 15th January Fundación Juan March, Castelló, 77, Madrid Over 250 pieces composing of artwork and documents will be displayed to highlight the socialist realism movement in Russia in the early 20th century.	El Romanticismo Ruso en época de Pushkin Russian Romanticism in the Pushkin Era Until 18 December Museo del Romanticismo, San Mateo, 13, Madrid An art exhibition that explore the Romantic movement in Russia during the Pushkin era. The collection contains a large number of paintings, drawings and stamps from the first half of the 19th century, on loan from the National Pushkin Museum of Moscow.
Marino Marini Until 19 February Centro Cultural Conde Duque, Conde Duque, 11, Madrid An exhibition of the sculptures by the Italian artist, Marino Marini. Marini is considered to be one of the best sculptors from the 20th century. There are over 75 sculptures, drawings and paintings on display.	El socialista, 1886-2011. 125 aniversario de un periódico The Socialist, 1886-2011. 125th Anniversary of a newspaper Until 25 February Museo de Historia, Fuencarral, 78, Madrid This exhibition offers an insight into the history of the publication across its diverse periods: from the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera, the Republic, the Civil War, exile and democracy.	La elegancia del dibujo. Crónica de París de Carlos Sáenz de Tejada The Elegance of Drawing. Chronicle of Carlos Sáenz de Tejada in Paris Until 26 February Museo ABC de Dibujo e Ilustración, Amaniel 29-31, Madrid AThis exhibitions will be displaying more than 300 fashion designs and drawing by Carlos Sáenz de Tejada, completed during the 1930s in Paris, with the aim of showing the elegance of drawing.

Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas 1 December, 9pm Galileo Galilei, Galileo, 100, 28015, Madrid Alasdair Fraser from Scotland has been playing the violin for many years and has only recently decided to join forces with the cellist Natalie Haas, mixing the sounds of the two instruments to produce a great folk sound.	Mastretta 1 December, 9pm Centro Cultural Conde Duque, Conde Duque, 11, 28015, Madrid Originally beginning in the late 1980s as a mixture between pop and caribbean music, Mastretta have always been experimental. Since then they have composed music for various adverts including for Volkswagen.	Ojos de Brujo 5 December, 8pm Arena, Princesa, 1, 28008, Madrid A true mixture of styles and instruments, Ojos de Bruja’s style can be found somewhere between flamenco, funk, hip-hop and reggae.
Hammerfall 7 December, 7pm Arena, Princessa, 1, 28008, Madrid The True Metal band began in the early 1990s and is much more authentic, faster and more melodic than Heavy Metal. They are true legends in metal music.	Pitingo 12-14 December, 9pm Teatro Häagen-Dazs Calderón, Calle Atocha, 18, 28012, Madrid Antonio Álvarez Vélez ‘Pitingo’ was originally known as a soul singer but has since become one of the best Flamenco singers around. He is said to have a Flamenco soul and a Cuban heart.	Danko Jones 15 December, 8pm Penélope, Hilarión Eslava, 36, 28015, Madrid The power rock true from Canada have had an outstanding career so far, working with some of the great names such as Hellacopters, Beck and Blonde Redhead.
Chicago Mass Choir 16 December, 8.30pmm Teatro Fernán Gómez – Centro de Arte, Plaza de Colón, s/n, 28046, Madrid The Chicago Mass Choir was founded in South Side, Chicago back in 1988. Their strong rhythm and jolly songs are designed to get the audience on their feet.	Presuntos Implicados 27 December, 9pm Teatro Häagen-Dazs Calderón, Calle Atocha, 18, 28012, Madrid The trio from Valencia has entered a new era with their new lead singer, Lidia. Their latest songs are much more sad and perplexing than their previous works.	Orquesta Sinfónica de Chamartín 29 December, 10.30pm Auditorio Nacional de Música, Príncipe de Vergara, 146, Madrid The local orchestra from Chamartín has played a number of venues both in Spain and across Europe.

THEATRE & DANCE
El Mago de Oz: El Musical The Wizard of Oz: The Musical 6-10 December Teatro Príncipe Gran Vía, Tres Cruces, 8, Madrid The classic story is brought to life on the stage with all your favourite characters.	Carmen Until 11 December Teatro Español, Del Príncipe, 25, Madrid A different and more romantic version of the classic opera by Bizet. A great show for those who want to experience some Flamenco and some great drama.	Purgatorio Purgatory Until 18 December Matadero Madrid, Naves del Español, Paseo de la Chopera, 10, Madrid Purgatorio is a beautiful yet bitter story written by Ariel Dorfman, which has been brought to the stage by the actor Viggo Mortensen, famous for his role as Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings.
Macbeth Until 18 December Teatros del Canal, Cea Bermúdez, 1, Madrid The prestigious dramatist, and now director of the National Classical Theatre Company, Helena Pimenta, has brought the classic Shakespeare play to the stage.	Descubriendo la Zarzuela Discovering the Zarzuela Until 25 December Teatro Alfil, Pez, 10, Madrid An introduction to the Zarzuela genre that will help you understand the culture of the genre as well as to have some fun with it too. Mostly aimed at children but good for anyone interested in Spanish literature, theatre and music.	Hair 6 October - 20 November Teatro Arteria Coliseum, Gran Vía, 78, Madrid A musical which has been a success in both the UK and America and is now bringing its 60s music to Madrid.
La bella durmiente Sleeping Beauty 26 December Teatro Lope de Vega, Gran Vía, 57, Madrid The National Classical Ballet of Russia always performs their ballets with exquisite skill, with a troupe made up of over 30 ballerinas. This time, they are performing one of the world’s most famous classical ballets, ‘Sleeping Beauty’.	Zarkana. Circo del Sol Until 31 December Madrid Arena, Las Aves, s/n, Madrid A spectacular circus show that combines the genres of circus, musical and a rock opera. Zarkana is set in a surrealist, fantasy world and tells the story of a wizard called Zark who is going in search of his lost love and lost powers.	Historias de un Karaoke Until 8 January Teatro Bellas Artes, Marqués de Casa Riera, 2, Madrid A comedy that is set in a karaoke bar which sees four lost souls, each marked by their own personal problem or circumstance, sing out their experiences.

Bullfights Every Sunday Plaza Las Ventas, Madrid Need you really ask? Everyone from Hemingway down has heard about the unique tradition of bullfighting in Spain – well, here’s your chance to experience it first hand.	Real Madrid CF vs FC Barcelona 11 December, 7pm Estadio Santiago de Bernabeu, Madrid The two great rivals from Madrid and Barcelona face it off on the football pitch.	Atlético Madrid vs. Rennais 15 December, 9pm Vicente Calderón, Madrid The two teams face it off in a football match as part of the UEFA Europa League.
