Enforex

Madrid serves up a beautiful cityscape featuring landmarks, squares, parks and much more- all of it with a rather monumental feel to it. Here we've listed just a few of the city's "must sees".

Plaza de España

Paying homage to Cervantes, as well as his two most famous literary creations - Don Quijote and sidekick Sancho Panza - is the massive Plaza de España, located right where two major avenues, Calle de Princesa and Gran Vía, converge. It's one of Madrid's most symbolic and beautiful squares, thanks to its abundance of fountains, grassy patches, colorful flowers and benches.

Enforex's Spanish school in Madrid is located just a five-minute walk from the Plaza de España! Along with tons of bars, restaurants, movie theaters and other "musts", highlights in the vicinity include the Parque del Oeste (Park of the West), the intriguing Egyptian Templo de Debod (Debod Temple). The royal palace and opera district are just minutes away.

Plaza Mayor

Since its construction in the 16th century, the breathtaking Plaza Mayor has been home to bullfights, autos de fe and numerous royal ceremonies. Nowadays it's truly Madrid's grand square, always teeming with a mix of photo-snapping tourists and locals out for a stroll. The best time of year for a visit to the Plaza Mayor is the Christmas season, when it turns into a giant Christmas market filled with wigs, Nativity sets, random knick-knacks and even Christmas trees.

Royal Palace

With 870 windows, 240 balconies and 110 doors, the sheer shize of Madrid's Palacio Real (Royal Palace) is enough to leave anyone's mouth gaping. The enormous edifice, built entirely out of stone, is one of the city's top attractions - and for good reason. Take a tour for a glance of royal living, or enjoy the views from outside in the beautiful Plaza del Oriente, a gardened semi-circular plaza bordered with terrace cafés.

"Boulevard of the Arts"

It doesn't take much to realize out why the Paseo del Prado has been dubbed the "Boulevard of the Arts". This elegant, classy part of town boasts the Prado Museum, Madrid's #1 attraction, along with the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum, the Reina Sofía Museum and the lovely Círculo de Bellas Artes.
